My cards that I created for this weeks challenge were made using a techinque called "Faux Batik". The design team has been challenged to use the colors pink, yellow and green.Be sure to hop on over to the other members of the design team to see their creations.
To create the "Faux Batik" technique I selected a stamp image that has a lined design. You will need to use clear embossing powder and clear embossing ink and emboss the image on to your cardstock. I use old manila file folders, they work really well for this technique.
After the image has been embossed using a heat tool, I made a water wash over top of the image and used re-inkers as my painting medium. This gives all those re-inkers another use. It is fun to watch the colors spread out over top of the wash.
Next, I use news print paper (with no black typing on it) and a hot iron (no steam). Lay the colored image face down on the newsprint and place the hot iron on top of it. This will melt the embossing powder into the newsprint. And will reveal the cream color of the manila file folder.
You can do this when to colors are wet or dry.
The finished results are really great.
The Peony (G3192) image was used to create the above card, using the same technique described above. Give it a try, I think you will like it.
