Copic Intermediate Certification

Last week, I traveled to Orlando to take my Copic Intemediate Certification class. Coleen Schaan is a wonderful instructor and I would highly recommend her. We had fun and learned so much. Now I need to practice.... practice... practice.

Hope you enjoy this Fathers Day card as much as I enjoyed making it. The water effect is made using a zip lock bag with hair gel inside. I really makes it look like a ship in a bottle.

Summer has arrived in Florida

Yes, summer is here and it is HOT, I can't believe we are in the mid 90's each day now. Our air conditioner is already working overtime and does not sound really great. Say a prayer, last one more year.

So keeping with the summer theme I used two different "faux postage" stamps from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps®. They look like a film strip, but in two different styles. Stamping exactly the same stamp images I wanted to show the difference between the postage images.

Oh my gosh, April is here........... Tax Day and Easter are fast approaching. I have posted a few of the Easter cards I have designed, maybe it will get you in the creative mod. Passport 2 Fun

Last weekend three of my fellow paper artists and myself hosted "Passpost 2 Fun" in Naples, Florida. We had 15 excited stampers that came to make 12 different projects.

Here are some of the gals having fun

Sharon's project. The top project formed a pyramid with a magnetic

closure.

Barb's project. somehow I'm missing one of the cards.

Karen's projects. The card with the chicken on it is actually

a open ended box, where you can insert dry chicken soup mix,

tea bags or even candy.

Passport to Fun

Oh my, so much going on and not enough hours in the day to do everything. I wanted to share with you "Passport to Fun" , it was a stamping event that myself and three other wonderful instructors put on for the stamping community.

On October 9th; Barb Pelak, Sharon Roberts and Karen Olszta joined together and each of us created 3 projects and we offered classes to 20 stamping friends. Everyone had a GREAT time.

Below you can view the projects that were offerd.

Here are some samples of my project. We did "Serendipity", it is a random form of art. Each card turns out different and they all were beautiful.

The first one to arrive was Cathy Lockhart, she could not wait to get started. Let's not forget the food. Yes, we also offered food and drinks.

Here are the lucky winners of the four baskets. Maybe they will invited us over to play with all their new stuff.

more Halloween Fun

The weather here in Florida is just starting to feel wonderful. The morning tempertures are in the 60's......finally. We had a long HOT summer. It is time to get out all the fall decorations to decorate the house. Fall is my favorite season. I just wish every year that I can get to go somewhere to see the fall foliage.

Just For Fun has released some great Halloween stamps. It has been so much fun designing with the new images. Click HERE to see the wonderful cards the design team has creating. I think you will agree they are all great.

Hocus-Pocus is a shaker card using Witch Wanda G3470 and the Crystal Ball G3471. A small hocus-pocus A3507 sign was added. Colored with Copic Markers. This would be a fun card to send to someone.

I love being witchy is a fun simple card..... flying witch small D3465, harvest moon E3487, I love being witchy A3508

Bubble Bubble Toil and Trouble G3477, hocus-pocus A3507. I used a black glitter pen to use on the vapors coming from the cauldron and red and orange glitter pen on the flames. The picture does not show the sparkle. Colored with Copic Markers.

Halloween Fun

Halloween is one of my two favorite holidays.......of course Christmas is the other. I have soooooo many halloween stamps but I always need to add another. Maybe these will become part of your collection.

Using Distress inks from Ranger inks I created some wonderful background papers. These were perfect for making into halloween cards. Well I guess they are not really cards, maybe they should be called creations.

This one is my favorite. Let me know what you think. I would love to read some comments.

Halloween Shaker Card

First I stamped using black ink on white cardstock the spider web, the I used my copic markers and airbrushed the orange background. This could also be done with stipple brushes or sponges.

Using black in stamp globe G3374 on white cardstock and cut out the opening of the globe.

stamp globe again on a piece of acetate or window plastic using permnament black ink. You may need to heat set depending on the ink you use.

Color the base of the globe using copic marker.

Stamp witch shoes, witch hat and broom. Colored with copic markers, cut out and set aside

These will be attached to the outside of the finished card using foam mounting tape.

I used double stick adhesive to attach the stamped acetate globe behind the first cut out stamped globe. Then place double stick foam tape around the opening of the globe. This will give you a clearance around the globe for placing some fun things inside so they can move around.

Now for the finished card.................. I hope you enjoy it. The airbrushing to the front of the finished card did not show up very well.

Just For Fun's® Color Challenge #26

Hello Friday. I can't believe how fast each week goes by. Welcome back for this weeks challenge. Here are the colors we will be using this week.

Here is a sneak peek of

what my card

will look like.........

I stamped Just For Fun's berry branch G3431 with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with copic marker and cut out the image. I then designed a pot for the berry branch and used forget-me-not swirl pattern stamp G3354 with Expresso ink, then embossed it with the Distressed Stripes embossing folder. Using a piece of yellow card stock I used a template from inverted scalloped circles from Spellbinders and airbrushed a little bit of red coloring. Everything is layered together on a brown card.

Now for the finished card.

Now, here is a sneak peek

of my card.

This was a fun card for me to make because I got to use my NEW airbrush system and made the background for the card. I randomly stamped the maple leaf stamp E1149 on a quarter panel piece of card stock and then the fun began. I airbrushed the background color using copic markers. The dried flower stalks were stamped using brown ink, air brushed and layered on olive colored card stock. If you do not have an air brush system you can use stipple brushes or sponges.

The pumpkins were all colored with copics, cut out and layered on the card.

Opps, I messed up. I used red instead of cranberry, but I think you will get the idea. If you decided to copy my card, just use cranberry accents. I'm still in the Christmas in August mode. So I hope you enjoy viewing my "Be Merry" Christmas card.

I started with a white quarter panel and stamped the 2 trees D3437 large snow pine in the foreground and D2418 small snow pine towards the back using a pesto Adirondack ink pad. I then made a mask for each of the snowy patches. This took a little bit of time. But I was able to save them to use again. I then used butterscotch ink and stippled color. Now stamp Be Merry UMS 7018 Sentiments 1 using cranberry ink.

Each snowy patch of the tree I applied polar white Flower Soft. Wow, I like how this turned out. To finish the card I tied a red (should be cranberry) ribbon and a small flourish.

I'm back..........vacation was very relaxing and we had a very nice time visiting family and friends. Now it's time to reveal this weeks challenge. Here are the colors we are using this week.

How about Christmas in August!

I started by stamping the candy canes(C3414) on white cardstock using Adirondack Cranberry ink and Merry Christmas (D2958). Then I cut out the candy canes and sprayed them with sparkle Sheer Shimmer Spritz. On kraft cardstock I stamped thepine branch (F2653) using Adirondack Bottle Green ink.

Using white cardstock I used a Spellbinders die Create a Flake One and cut out several layers for the snowflake, then I used Martha Stewart's glittering glue and coarse glitter and covered the layers. I really like how nice the snowflake turned out.

Grandaughter's Art Work

I just love when my Grandaughter Savannah has a sleep over at our house. She always wants to play in my stamp room and is always wanting to learn new things. I have been letting her color with my Copic markers and Savannah is starting to get pretty good with them. She also likes to use the prismacolor pencils which I think are her favorite.

So .......... Savannah colored the little girl with Copic markers and then she designed a scene to put her into. I just love the hanging tire swing. You can't tell in the picture, but she popped up the little girl for her to look 3-D.

Great Job Savannah, Grandma loves you.

I used the Small Script image to stamp using Latte ink on the yellow card. It is very hard to see, but on the gray piece of cardsock a Cuttlebug embossing folder Script Texture was used.

Looking at these colors I immediately think of Thanksgiving. Sooooooooooo How about Thanksgiving in July. Everyone seems to be doing Christmas in July. Let's change it up a little. My card is going to be a Thanksgiving theme using some very new stamps from Just For Fun. They are Fall Corn Swag E3440, Acorn AA3425, and Sentiments 1 UM57018(Happy Thanksgiving) go here and click on new arrivals and see all the other wonderful images. All the coloring was done with Copic Markers. Fall is my favorite season so this was alot of fun creating and coloring. I did not add and glitter to the corn, but I think it would be a nice added touch.

I shared some of my alcohol with my friends this weekend........... Oh, I almost forgot it was not the drinking kind of alcohol, these alcohol inks are from Ranger Industries.

Just For Fun's® Color Challenge #19

Because of the holiday this was a short week, so Friday seemed to get here a lot faster. I really do like the 4 day work week. Wish it could be that way always.

OH MY........ it's Friday again. This weekend I'm excited, I have 3 days off and no where to go.......yeah. Maybe it will be a PJ weekend.

So that brings us to Just For Fun's color challenge. Our colors purple, green and blue were chosen by Sherry. There are so many possibilities with these colors. So let's see what I came up with.

Oh my, this was a short work week for me. I took Monday off to recoup from StampFest Orlando. I had so much fun seeing all my stamping buddies, teaching classes and working the registration desk. It seem like we are planning forever for this weekend and it is over way too fast. If you were there write a comment on your adventure at the show. It was so nice to see Sherry again.

So on to the color challenge this week, Glenda challenged the design team to use the above colors. I really like using pale pink and green together it is fresh and clean looking.

My card is using some new images by Just For Fun. Not sure what the name of the stamp is but the number is G3436 and the sentiment is from the new Sentiments 1 USM 7018. I stamped the flower design with Memento's Rich Coco and colored with Copic Markers. I used Spellbinders die Labels Trio for my sentiment and added some pearls and a bow.

Good Morning,

I'm here in Orlando getting ready to teach my Copic marker classes. I'm hoping everyone taking the class will enjoy these markers as much as I have enjoyed learning why they are so special.

It is so great to see Sherry, it has been over two years since we have seen each other. Way to long. Sherry we have alot to catch up on. Now on to the challenge, this week Sherry has asked us to use the colors green, blue and yellow.

My card is pretty simple, not enough time this week to make something spectacular. I used the masking technique and stamped the Cherry Confetti Cupcake B3366 three times, layering them on top of each other. I liked how the cupcakes turned out using this technique. The cup cakes were colored with Copic Markers. I went through my stash of card stock and found some green, blue and yellow and used a border punch from Martha Stewart and trimed the ends.

Just For Fun's® Color Challenge #14

Kat choose today's challenge, she would like us to use a monochromatic color combination.

So I decided to get out the Ranger Alcohol Inks and see what I could come up with. First, I choose to use the color blue. So out came all the blue alcohol inks. I decided to use "sail boat blue" and "stonewash". Next, you will need a can of air. Dropping the ink colors onto glossy cardstock and then spray the air at the droplets to push the colors around. Keep repeating this until you like what you see.

I thought the Broken Mosiac Background H3089 would look nice stamped over the alcohol ink background. So keeping with the color challenge I used Adirondack Denim ink pad.

Stamp Happy Birthday B2900 with Denim ink and layer on blue cardstock. I tied two different colors of blue ribbon around the card.

Orange and Black mean two things to me...... my high school colors or it must be Halloween. So trying to put these colors together for my project was a challenge. I wanted to keep it simple but elegant.

I created my own background paper using this weeks colors of lime green, turquoise and yellow. Stamps used were D3363 French Floral Design, D3355 Lotus Interpretations.

After the background paper was created I then used two different Spellbinders dies - Lg Classic Inverted Scallop Circles and Squares. I used one circle and two squares. Stamp the wording E3139 Sunshire in black ink and stamped D3355 Lotus Interpretations with yellow ink to high light the words. I like using solid stamp images behind words to help the words pop.

Now play along at the Just For Fun Blog and use Mr Linky so we can see your wonderful creations of lime green.....turquoise.....yellow. You don't need to use Just For Fun stamps, however it would be nice if you do have them.

Just For Fun's® color challenge #8

Yes, I'm a day late, please don't hate me. I think you will agree the wait was worth it.

Broni challenged the design team to use the above colors. Two are my favorites orange and blue. Why you ask......the Florida Gators. My hero Tim Tebow just got drafted in the first round to the Denver Broncos. Congrats Tim.

And another winner for last weeks 25% discount is Sylvia from Little Treasures. Happy shopping.

So here it is, no I did not use the Florida Gators mascot, but I did use a Florida sunset. I really like this stamp image and I have used it often in sending cards and teaching classes. If traveling to Florida for your vacation, enjoy the hot summer sun.

Just For Fun's® Color Challenge #7

My weeks have been flying by so quickly. How about yours? I just wish I could work less hours and play more. Creative fun is such a stress reliever for me.

Today Kat has challenge us to use pink, blue and a neutral color. I will be using a kraft cardstock as my card base.

You will notice I'm using some new images from Just For Fun®, they are a bubble wand and bubbles. Bubbles bring back memories of playing in the back yard on a hot summer day. They were colored using Copic markers. Summer Dreams (WB8015) was used from the word block. The stamp also includes: Happy Spring, Autumn Greetings and Winter Wonderland. Great for all the seasons.

Just For Fun's Color Challenge #6

My cards that I created for this weeks challenge were made using a techinque called "Faux Batik". The design team has been challenged to use the colors pink, yellow and green.

Be sure to hop on over to the other members of the design team to see their creations.

To create the "Faux Batik" technique I selected a stamp image that has a lined design. You will need to use clear embossing powder and clear embossing ink and emboss the image on to your cardstock. I use old manila file folders, they work really well for this technique.

After the image has been embossed using a heat tool, I made a water wash over top of the image and used re-inkers as my painting medium. This gives all those re-inkers another use. It is fun to watch the colors spread out over top of the wash.

Next, I use news print paper (with no black typing on it) and a hot iron (no steam). Lay the colored image face down on the newsprint and place the hot iron on top of it. This will melt the embossing powder into the newsprint. And will reveal the cream color of the manila file folder.
You can do this when to colors are wet or dry.

The finished results are really great.

The Peony (G3192) image was used to create the above card, using the same technique described above. Give it a try, I think you will like it.

And the Peacock Feather image (G3142) was used for the above card.

Well Hello there, it is Friday again. And you know what that means, Just For Fun's design team has another challenge. Here are the colors we are using this week.
I chose Just For Fun's poppy flower stamp as my red accent and colored the flower with copic markers. I really like how you can blend and take away colors with these markers. I keep asking myself, where were these markers 16 years ago?

Yeah, I finally was able to create a collage of some photos that were taken at the Grunge classes that I have been teaching at Wicked Rubber Stamper in Naples Florida.

The gals were really getting messy as you can see, but they had sooooooo much fun.

However, on the good side of all of this mess, the projects turned out just wonderful.

My card this week I choose to color my flowers with Copics BG10, BG13 and BG15 for my touch of color. I used circle punches to layer.

For the card I cut a piece of cream colored card stock 7" x 7" and folded in half. (tip: this will go in a #10 business envelope, at regular postage $.44) . The circle on the card were made by using a "Yoplait" yogart container. The two ends are different sizes and work great to create backgrounds. This was an idea I used in a class I taught showing how to recycle items as stamping tools. Stamp Happy Spring on cream cardstock and layer on black. Now assembly everything together. Enjoy!

Week #2 Color Challenge

Welcome back to the second week of the color challenge. I really enjoy viewing all the wonderful cards the design team made last week. If you missed viewing them make sure you stop by their blogs this week.

My card this week is very simple. My week at work has been exhusting so simple it was. I got out the alcohol inks and glossy paper. The bottom part of the paper I used lettuce and bottle green and the top is stonewash, this gives the vision of a landscape after stamping the tree line H2890. I felt for a quick and easy card it turned out nice. This would make a great masculine card, these always seem to be so hard to think up. Make up a few of these to keep on hand and just add a Happy Birthday, or Get Well Soon, and you got a finished card to send to someone special.

So here is my card using Pink, Green and Brown. I started with a brown panel and used white Stazon Ink and stamp the Flourish G3354, set this aside to dry. I next used green polka dotted paper and used my Marvy Giga scalloped circle punch. The flower is D3352 was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with Copic markers. I used the Spellbinder die "Nested Flower" medium die and layered this on to the green circle. Next I stamped To Someone Special (I do not have the stock number for this stamp, I will find it and post later) Using the flow of the saying, I cut to the outside of the words and tied a ribbon.

Everything was layered together on a folded pink card.

This is the card everyone was able to make at the Just For Fun® booth this past weekend in Clearwater, Florida. The show was very buzy. I believe everyone boosted the economy a little. All the vendor seemed to be happy.

This is not a very difficult card to make it only looks that way. Stamp the butterfly C3373 with demin ink on white cardstock, cut out and set aside. Stamp the lg oval fauxpost D2708 on white cardstock, use matching template D2708T and place ontop of stamped oval, stipple color lightly and stamp dandylion E3370 with ginger ink. Remove template and cut around the outer oval edge with decorative scissors. (Faux Post Tutorial is on Just For Fun Blog

The panel was stippled with butterscotch and around the edges with demin ink colors. The solid leaf branch D3360 was stamped with lettuce and the bare twig E3372 with latte. Now you can place the oval dandylion in the center and attach the butterfly with a rolled glue dot. Friendship B3120 was stamped using demin ink. Layer on a folded card.

Happy Valentine's Day to all my stamping friends. Wishing you a wonderful day of chocolates and roses. Here is my rose to you.
The rose and leaves are colored with Copic Markers. The colors used for the rose are R17, R27 and R 59. For the leaves I used YG11, YG06, YG07 and E15 for the stem of the rose. I really like how the colors just blend together using the Copic markers. I have been doing a lot of practicing since last month, when I took the class to get Certified. Lots of information was given to us, now I need to practice, practice, and more practice. I have found that as you keep using these markers it gets easier.

I have a Valentine "grunge heart" card. I stamped three dot heart B1944 and colored using Distress Ink fired brick, cut them out and layered them on top of each other and set aside. On white cardstock stamp valentine frame E2668 using black ink and trimmed with deckle scissors and colored using a stipple brush and cranberry ink . This was layered ontop of red cardstock which was trimmed on the two sides using Martha Stewarts heart border punch. Emboss a piece of white card stock with cuttlebug embossing folder D'vine swirl, tie a red satin ribbon around it and layer on a folded red card. Everything else will then be layered on top of this. To finish the card I punched out some branches using Martha Stewart's punch in red and white and placed them around the layered grunge hearts.

Grunge Flowers

Last Saturday I had a class and this is one of the projects I designed using Grunge Paper. They had so much fun and there were so many that wanted to take the class I get to teach it again this Saturday. Two fun classes back to back.

The leaf was die cut using grunge paper and the flowers were stamped on grunge paper and cut out, colored and layered using grunge board as the spacers. The background or hanger was cut using Labels One Nestabilities colored and stamped, cut two of them. The one corner I curled up to show a different look. I thought it turned out quite nice. The arrangement of flowers are then attached to the top. What is so unique using grunge paper you can curl the edges and make the flowers and leaves look dimensional.

I took pictures of what the gals did in class and would like to post the pictures in some type of collage format. Maybe someone has some information on how I can do this. I checked to see if I had a template in my photo program, but it doesn't

Last Minute Christmas Card

Another quick and easy card. Just in case you don't have your cards finished. This card can be put together rather easy, only one stamp was

used and a few Dew Drops. It is Snowy Pine Lg D3074 from Just For Fun.

I'm so sorry this post is late in arriving. My week has been very busy and we had to make a trip to St Petersburg for my Dad's procedure on Wednesday. All is well and he is home resting.

All my cards are finished and in the mail. Wahoo.... I just finished decorating the tree, there may be some time tomorrow to bake some cookies.

Quick and Easy Christmas Cards

I would like to show you two quick and easy Christmas cards to make. To complete each card there were only two stamps used. The Christmas tree stamp is from Just For Fun and is called scratched tree, it is a two sided stamp C2927. The greetings are Joy AA2352 and Holiday Wishes D2929

Use the side of the tree that has the star on top and stamp using bottle green ink and stamp on white card stock, stamp Joy at the bottom using cranberry ink and trim and set aside. Use the opposite side of the tree stamp and bottle green ink and stamp onto green cardstock to make a background. Cut a strip of red card stock and emboss with Cuttlebug embossing folder "snowflakes". Attach all the layers to a light green folded card

The next card is using the same 2 sided tree stamp, but this time switch the trees, the background is the tree with the star and the one attached to the card is the opposite side. Now that was QUICK and EASY.

Frosty Winter

I wanted to showcase some more fun cards using the "faux post" techinque. In the card above I used G2479 3 + 1 grid and G2479T template, D2936 sketchy snowman, AA2831 frosty, AA2828 winter and RB7002 holiday block (snowflakes).

For this snowflake card I used E2165 small faux postage grid, E2165T template and E2651 large snowflake. The post below will explain how to do the faux post technique.

Faux Post "Tree in Winter"

Just For Fun's faux postage grids make it fun and easy to create unique greeting cards. I used G3141 Tree in Winter, G2479 3+1 faux post grid and template G2479T to complete this card.

Each postage grid that Just For Fun sells has a plastic template to match. It is a good idea to purchase both because it will make the technique much easier. Using black ink stamp the postage grid G2479 on white cardstock, now place the matching plastic template G2479T on top of the stamped image making sure it covers all the dotted lines of the grid pattern. I usually use a low tack tape to keep it all in place while I do the next steps. Apply color to the open areas using stipple brushes or foam applicators. A few different colors of ink were used to get the colors of winter. Next stamp the tree G3141 Tree in Winter directly on top of the plastic grid, hold it in place for a few seconds so the image will transfer to the paper. Remove the plastic template and place aside to be cleaned with a wet and dry paper towel. This will reveal your stamped masterpiece. Trim with decorative scissors from Fiskars named "stamp" around the outer edge of the faux post image, be sure you can see the dotted frame. Layer on coordinating card stock and your card is finished. That was quick and easy.

Another Poinsettia Card

SO........here is the full image of the poinsettia stamp used in the post below that only a portion of the stamp and this card using the full image gives two totally different looks. I like the way both of them turned out. How about you? Don't forget to tank a look to see how Sherry Cheever used this same poinsettia stamp

Using Archival Jet Black ink pad I stamped the poinsettia on white card stock and colored with prismacolor pencils and layered on green card stock onto a folded red card.

To make the tag I used the same sentiment stamp "All Good Cheer" and using a label from the Spellbinder's Labels Trio I stamped Merry Christmas to you (which is the first line of the stamp image).

I would like to share with you my Christmas Poinsettia Card. I used black embossing powder to emboss the Poinsettia image (G3177) on water color paper and colored using water color pencils, punch out the flower using Marvy mega circle scalloped punch. Also punch out a piece of dark green cardstock using Marvy giga circle scalloped punch, layer these together and set aside. You will notice I did not used the entire poinsettia stamp, only a portion of it.

Stamp the musical "Glorious Song stamp (H2503) on beige cardstock and use Marvy giga scallop circle punch to punch out a portion of the stamp image. Use a sponge to apply some red ink around the edges and set aside.

On red cardstock use Martha Stewart's "Scallop dot edge punch" to trim one edge of the cardstock and attach to the upper edge of a folded green card and attach some trim.

I used the sentiment stamp "All Good Cheer" (D2615) and used the part that says Happy Holiday and stamped it on a ribbon tag from Spellbinders. Now put the card together.

If you notice this is the same image Sherry used on her blog. I will post another poinsettia image in my next blog, for some reason I can not post this picture to this blog where I want it to go.

This is it.......my first post for the NEW Just For Fun Rubber Stamps Design Team. This is so exciting and all so new to me, please be patient with my posts and I know they will only get better.

I cut out a frame using Sizzix "rectangle frame" die and textured it with the "Distressed Stripes" Cuttlebug embossing folder , set this aside. On beige cardstock I stamped the twig stamp, pussy willow and branch stamp and aligned it behind the frame. On white cardstock I stamped flower image two times, cut each out and colored with Copic markers and layered on top of each other and attached to the front of the frame. Layered all of this to a folded dark brown card.
